3.1 Placing an order
When you place an order through the Site, you are making an offer to buy. The contract between us is formed when we send you an order confirmation email. Until that email is sent, no contract exists.
3.2 Order acceptance
We may refuse or cancel an order at our discretion, including (but not limited to) where:
- An item is out of stock or has been mispriced due to an obvious error.
- We cannot ship to your delivery address.
- We suspect fraudulent or unauthorised use of payment details.
- We are required to do so by law.
If we cancel an accepted order, we will refund any payment in full.
3.3 Eligibility
By placing an order, you confirm you are at least 18 years old (or have the consent of a parent or guardian) and legally capable of entering into a binding contract.
4. Pricing & payment
4.1 Prices
All prices on the Site are shown in euros (€) and include VAT (TVA) where applicable. Prices may change from time to time, but the price that applies to your order is the price displayed on the Site at the time you place it.
4.2 Payment
Payment is taken at the time of order. We accept the payment methods displayed at checkout. By submitting your payment details you confirm that you are authorised to use the payment method and that there are sufficient funds to cover the order.
4.3 Pricing errors
If we discover a pricing error after you have placed an order, we will contact you to either reconfirm the order at the correct price or cancel it and refund you in full.
4.4 Customs duties (UK orders)
Orders shipped to the United Kingdom may be subject to UK import VAT, customs duties and courier handling charges, payable by the customer on delivery. See our Delivery & Returns page for full details.
5. Shipping & delivery
All orders are dispatched from our studio in St Michel, France. Shipping costs and estimated delivery times are set out in full on our Delivery & Returns page.
Risk in the goods passes to you when they are delivered to your nominated address. We are not liable for delays caused by carriers, customs clearance, or events outside our reasonable control.
6. Right of withdrawal (EU and UK customers)
You have the right to cancel your order without giving any reason within 14 calendar days from the day on which you (or a third party other than the carrier indicated by you) acquire physical possession of the goods.
This right is set out in:
- The French Code de la consommation, articles L221-18 and following, which implements EU Directive 2011/83/EU on consumer rights.
- EU Directive 2023/2673 of 22 November 2023, which from 19 June 2026 requires online traders to provide a clearly visible withdrawal function on their website.
- For UK customers, equivalent rights are provided under the Consumer Contracts (Information, Cancellation and Additional Charges) Regulations 2013.
6.1 How to exercise your right
To exercise your right of withdrawal, you must notify us of your decision before the 14-day deadline expires. You can do this in any of the following ways:
- Recommended: use the withdrawal form on our Withdraw an Order page. You will receive an automatic confirmation email.
- Send a clear statement by email to info@sueureceramics.com.
- Send a letter by post to: Sue Ure Ceramics, 1174 Chemin de Sauviac, 32300 St Michel, France.
Quick access to the withdrawal form
The fastest way to exercise this right is through our dedicated withdrawal page, which sends you an automatic confirmation by email.
Withdraw an order6.2 Effects of withdrawal
If you withdraw from this contract, we will reimburse all payments received from you, including the original outbound delivery costs (except any supplementary costs arising if you chose a delivery method other than our standard option). We will make this reimbursement using the same means of payment as you used for the initial transaction, unless you have expressly agreed otherwise.
We may withhold reimbursement until we have received the goods back, or until you have supplied evidence of having sent them back, whichever comes first.
You must send back the goods, without undue delay and in any event not later than 14 days from the day on which you notify us of your withdrawal. The deadline is met if you send back the goods before that period has expired.
You will bear the direct cost of returning the goods.
6.3 Exceptions to the right of withdrawal
Under article L221-28 of the French Code de la consommation, the following are not eligible for withdrawal:
- Goods made to your custom specification or personalised at your request.
- Items sold as part of a final-sale promotion, where this is clearly stated at the time of purchase.
All other items on the Site are covered by the standard 14-day right of withdrawal.
7. Returns & refunds
Full information about how to return an item, including timeframes and refund processing, is set out on our Delivery & Returns page.
Returned items must be in their original condition, unused, and in their original packaging. We reserve the right to reduce the refund if the goods show signs of use beyond what is necessary to establish their nature, characteristics and functioning.
8. Damaged or faulty items
If your order arrives damaged or faulty, please contact us within 7 days of delivery at info@sueureceramics.com with photos of the packaging and item. We will arrange a replacement, store credit or full refund as appropriate.
Your statutory rights as a consumer are not affected by these Terms.
9. Product information & availability
We take care to describe and photograph our products accurately. Because every piece is handmade or hand-finished, there will be small variations in colour, shape and finish between pieces. These variations are not faults; they are part of the character of the work.
Colours shown on screen may differ slightly from the actual product depending on your device and display settings.
All products are subject to availability. We may withdraw any product from sale at any time.
10. Intellectual property
All content on the Site, including images, text, logos, designs and product designs, is owned by Sue Ure Ceramics or licensed to us, and is protected by copyright, trademark and other intellectual property laws.
You may not reproduce, distribute, modify or use any content from the Site for commercial purposes without our prior written consent.
11. Limitation of liability
Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for any other liability that cannot be limited or excluded by law.
Subject to that, our total liability to you in connection with any order is limited to the price you paid for that order.
We are not liable for any indirect or consequential losses, loss of profit, loss of business or loss of opportunity.
12. Privacy & data protection
Your privacy is important to us. We process your personal data in line with our Privacy Policy and in compliance with the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and the French Loi Informatique et Libertés.
The supervisory authority for data protection in France is the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés (CNIL).
13. Governing law & dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by French law. Any dispute arising from your use of the Site or any purchase made through it shall be subject to the non-exclusive jurisdiction of the French courts.
Nothing in this clause affects your statutory rights as a consumer in your country of residence.
13.1 Online dispute resolution (EU)
If you are an EU consumer and have a complaint that we have not been able to resolve, you may submit your dispute to the EU's online dispute resolution platform at ec.europa.eu/consumers/odr.
13.2 Médiation de la consommation (France)
French consumers may also refer disputes to a consumer mediator (médiateur de la consommation) free of charge, in accordance with articles L612-1 and following of the Code de la consommation.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these Terms from time to time to reflect changes in our business, our products or applicable law. The version that applies to your order is the version published on the Site at the time you place your order.
We recommend checking this page periodically for updates.
