A hand-drawn line in white porcelain slip bisects the midpoint of the black tumbler, marking the dividing line between the fully glazed upper half of the cup and the lovely matt texture of the unglazed bottom half. All our ceramics items have our brand name engraved (de-bossed) on the base of the products, a detail that defines the cup’s identity as an exclusive Sue Ure Maison design. The tall black tumbler or beaker is made from pure high-firing black ceramic (clay).
When it came to designing our tall tumbler, I knew that a handleless cup was quite a new item in terms of UK tableware.
We frequently eat food that’s the product of a fusion between cultures - for example, Japan and Sweden have become identified as “Japandi” - and it’s not surprising that our ceramics and tableware evolve to match these new home trends.
Our tall black tumbler is just as suitable for hot drinks as it is for cold, but for me, a mug with a handle doesn’t have the same versatility, it just doesn’t feel right drinking cold drinks from a mug! For those of us who regularly use a dishwasher, the surface of glass tumblers or beakers can become cloudy over time, something that won't happen with our products.
Our high-temperature fired tumblers, mugs and beakers have a very practical shiny glaze inside that just shrugs off stains. Bringing an oriental suggestion to your home, our tall black tumbler or beaker is a great multi-function gift.

- All tableware and table mats have protective product boxing. However these boxes will be packed into larger and when we can, recycled boxes for postage.Delivery is by Royal Mail or DHL Mail. All purchases have tracking and UK purchases should arrive in two to three working days. We currently only ship to addresses in the UK.We do not offer express delivery.Please don’t worry when making your purchase - when you are buying an item where you have made a colour choice from a drop down menu, your purchase confirmation will display the correct colour in writing, but will display the colour of the main photo of the article, which may not be the one you’ve chosen.
